Authentic Perspective
For most of my life, I heard people talk about the Grand Canyon with awe in their voices. I saw pictures that were stunning and read stories that described the amazing landscape. From all of that, I created an image in my mind of what I thought it would be like. A few years ago, I finally had the opportunity to go with some of my family and experience it directly. Despite all that I had gathered over the years about the place, my knowledge was a weak shadow compared to the revelation that awaited me as I approached the edge of this natural wonder. What an amazing moment to finally understand what so many before me had tried to convey.
Life is a lot like the Grand Canyon. We can make up stories in our minds about what is on the other side of school and training, career paths, relationships, and other major and minor opportunities throughout our days. However, until we invest ourselves in the journey, we will never know what lies beyond the edge. The path through has its dangers, risks, and struggles, but the life-altering experiences are difficult to put into words. You must live them to truly know them.
So, I am reminded that each day brings a new opportunity to see something in the world that can change our lives. If we open ourselves up to these possibilities, we can gain new perspectives and insights about ourselves and the world around us. Like hiking through the Grand Canyon, your worldview can be transformed to a new level. No matter how old we are or where we are in life, there is something new to discover just around the corner.
