Prayer
I don’t usually post about religious things because it is a private matter for each of us and often very divisive. My faith journey over my lifetime has taken many different turns. Where once I was confident that I knew all the right answers and wore my beliefs like a knight’s armor, I have come to a deeper understanding of my ignorance and, hopefully, a humbler approach to my spiritual growth.
I came across the quote above just recently and was deeply moved by it. Kierkegaard’s statement resonates with me in a different way now than it might have earlier in my life. Prayer for me has become an internal condition, instead of an outward push. Rather than asking God to change the circumstances around me, I am seeking how I can be an extension of love and hope. I do believe that something bigger than all of us is at work; my goal is to find my place in that process.
